The Importance of Anti-Fraud Governance

It was an insightful morning as P&A Grant Thornton hosted the fraud awareness and prevention forum, titled “Building Integrity and Resilience against Corporate Misconduct” at the 16th floor, Bohol and Samal conference rooms, Friday, February 7, 2025.
Chief financial officers, directors and managers from different finance groups were immersed into an in-depth discussion on safeguarding their organization’s assets and resources and ensuring business continuity through the forum.
Atty. Olivier Aznar kicked off the event with a short talk on the importance of addressing corporate misconduct through fraud awareness. The forum started with a talk on detecting potential fraud headed by former Commissioner of the Commission on Audit Heidi Mendoza. She also introduced ways to protect an organization from fraud as well as the emerging trends in financial fraud.
Meanwhile, Director of the Enforcement and Investor Protection Department of the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission Atty. Oliver Leonardo discussed regulatory compliance in addressing corporate fraud and irregularities. “Open communication, transparency and regular evaluations of the company’s ethical culture further strengthens the foundation for a long term corporate integrity,” he emphasized.
Chris Ferareza also gave the audience a walk-through in the Firm’s anti-fraud playbook and introduced guidelines in developing a fraud and risk management program for organizations.The forum closed with an insightful message from Mhycke Gallego, encouraging professionals to build a resilient and sustainable anti-fraud organization.
