You Can't Hide from Heidi Mendoza

Countless lawyers have been elected to the Senate. But seldom has an accountant made it, the most prominent being Senator Jose W. Diokno, who served in the 1960s.
That is why we need Heidi Mendoza in the Senate. With all corruption scandals taking place, don’t you think they would have been uncovered earlier and investigated more thoroughly if we had the likes of Heidi Mendoza in the Senate?
She would have sniffed and exposed before others the pork barrel scandal, the misuse of confidential funds, the latest GAA anomalies, all cases of graft and corruption.
As COA auditor, she blew the whistle on the corruption of AFP Comptroller Carlos Garcia, who went to jail for pocketing hundreds of millions of kickbacks from military procurement, one of the causes of the Oakwood Mutiny of the Magdalo group of Antonio Trillanes IV.
She also investigated the Binays over their decades long shenanigans in Makati – which unfortunately cost her the nod of the Commission on Appointments which bypassed her appointment as COA Commissioner, despite the strong backing of PNoy.
She was offered bribes left and right but turned them down, that’s why she made enemies.
Who opposed her confirmation? Nancy Binay, Jinggoy Estrada and their ilk.
As an auditor, she doesn’t espouse radical ideas such as same sex marriage or gender ideology but pure and simple good governance.
It is unfortunate that the most qualified people are often shut out of government, leaving the crooks in place.
PNoy kept renewing her ad interim appointment for three years but in the end the crooks won.
The country’s loss was world’s gain as she was quickly plucked by the United Nations, the World Health Organization, the Food and Agriculture Organization and International Labour Organization, to be their auditor.
As she pleaded before the CA: “Hindi ako nagsinungaling. Hindi ako nagnakaw. Hindi ako nakasuhan. Ang tanging kasalanan ko lang ay nag-file ng kaso (sa mga kawatan).”
Well, the Filipino people are more powerful than the CA. If she cannot be appointed, she certainly can be elected. So let’s vote her into the Senate.
